Homecoming kicks off at Ankeny High School next week, beginning Monday, Sept. 8, and it’ll be “Out of this Word” – this year’s theme.
Dress-up days for students are pajama day on Monday, retro day on Tuesday, twin day on Wednesday, out of this world day on Thursday, and spirit day on Friday.

A pep rally will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, at the football stadium at the high school, 1302 N. Ankeny Blvd. The rally will feature the football team, marching band, cheerleaders and a performance by Iowa-born country singer Jason Brown.

The coronation of homecoming king and queen starts around 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12. Candidates for king are Jared Goforth, James Longo, Zeb Miller, Ross Naylor and Andre' Paulson. Candidates for queen are Tori Botos, Lindsey O'Brien, Kati Ploeger, Chelsey Semprini and Jodi Whitworth.

The football team’s game against Council Bluffs-Thomas Jefferson will follow.

A powder puff football tournament will play out at the football stadium on Saturday morning.

Homecoming week will be capped off with a dance, from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the high school.
